Congratulations to the young mother on welcoming her first child hours before Graduation

Jada Sayles successfully earned a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice, specializing in pre-law. After the commencement ceremony at Dillard University in New Orleans, Louisiana, Sayles welcomed her baby into the world just a few hours later.

In a heartwarming turn of events, Sayles was able to receive her well-deserved degree in a special ceremony organized in her hospital room less than a day after giving birth. Even though the location was different, the significance of the moment was not diminished.

College President Walter Kimbrough made the effort to travel to Ochsner Baptist Medical Center to personally present Sayles with her degree, honoring her dedication and achievement amidst the extraordinary circumstances.

After successfully obtaining her bachelor’s degree, Jada Sayles, who had given birth at the hospital, tenderly kissed her newborn son, Easton, and expressed her pride, saying, “I’m proud of myself.” The moment felt incredibly surreal to her, and she confessed that it was only when Dr. Kimbrough presented her with the degree that she truly grasped its significance.

Coincidentally, Sayles’ due date aligned with her graduation day, as indicated by the doctors. Despite her circumstances, she remained determined to participate in the ceremony and even steamed her graduation gown at a nearby motel close to the campus.

Up until the day before her due date, Sayles’ pregnancy had shown no signs of progress. She mentioned, “I didn’t dilate at all. After graduation, I was actually supposed to be induced at 5:00.” The sequence of events had not deviated from the original plan, emphasizing the unexpected nature of her achievement and the subsequent birth of her child.

When asked about not being able to attend the commencement on campus, Sayles responded that the hospital event was “way better.” She explained that having her son, Easton, in her arms made it a truly memorable experience and the best academic moment of her life.

Jokingly, Sayles mentioned to Fox News Digital that her son should have some “great Mother’s Day” presents for her, considering the unique circumstances surrounding his birth just hours after she received her college degree. As Easton grows older, Sayles plans to share the story of his birth with him.

Sayles describes Easton as a sweet baby who spends most of his time napping and enjoys being close to his mother. Her future plans involve enrolling in law school and pursuing a career in public policy.
